Ruger revolvers are stronger than Smiths, not because they use more metal, but because the metal is more strategically placed. Since this wasnt a T&E gun and I was a little less worried about destroying it, I played around with quite a few different recipes for hand loads. Made me laugh. Beyond a little more end shake than I was expecting, my Colt King Cobra also has some play in the rotation of the cylinder during lock-up. The trigger on this King Cobra is clearly MIM. Dont read them. Probably the same impact as (and I dont have ballistics in front of me, so just take this for the general point Im trying to make) as a .38 SPL with a 6 barrel. Gotta have one of these as a carry piece! They are a quality product. I got a legitimate 1100+ fps from the bullet, which is about 75 fps more than the math told me Id get with a 3-inch barrel, perhaps because it was 100+ degrees outside. But how the bolt tail fell off the rebound lever controlled how the bolt rose/fell in the timing cycle. It would take only one mistake to turn some other revolvers (especially those lighter carry revolvers) into hand grenades. Its the when I see them part thats the hardest. It is louder and definitely has more flash. This, from a bone stock 5 1/2 gun. But thats for the older Colt revolvers. If you want all those pieces to be forged and hand finished to fit, or CNC machined, or something along those lines, then I hope youre willing to pay twice as much for a gun with the exact same performance, reliability, feel, etc etc etc. Small knives are nice and handy, but dull quickly and just cant do some of the boning and butchering as easily as a big knife. In the old DA Colt revolver designs, (such as the D, E&I and Python frame revolvers, which included the Police Positive, Viper, Python, New Service, etc), as the endshake grew, youd tend to start wearing the hand and the bolt fairly quickly.
